Painting all the walls and CEILING the same color makes a room appear calm, cohesive, and larger. If its wallpaper you love, consider covering your ceilings with it for a great pop of uninterrupted pattern. And please don’t forget some fabulous lighting! Good lighting breathes life into any room.

Finding proper balance and scale will give you a sense of harmony. Choose a few well scaled items rather than a cacophony of clutter. Add a fun happy, whimsical piece into your well appointed room. Something that encourages conversation and makes you smile

Mix your finishes. Yes, you can mix polished nickel with hand rubbed brass! Mixing periods, styles, finishes, textures and patterns. A room needs to reflect your personality, and if you love it ... put it in your mix. Pair your antiques with clean modern lines, it’s thoughtfully unexpected. Reinvent & creatively use objects that were intended for another purpose. Carefully choose your highs and lows. A room should look well acquired over time, not simply purchased from a catalog yesterday.

What you take out of a room is equally as important as what you keep. It's called an EDIT. Don't forget IT! If you have to ask yourself if you should keep it -you probably should lose it.  Everything in your home should make you happy!

When it comes to good design, honesty is the best policy. Be honest about how you live in your space. Design your room to fit the way you live right now, don’t try to live in a room that fits someone else’s lifestyle.

Surround yourself with fine natural fabrics . . . linen, mohair, paperfine wools, textures and patterns that can all live harmoniously together. And layer your pieces, your eye needs to travel with curious excitement through a room. Layering adds depth, dimension, and texture necessary for a luxious space.
